So, like, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) just appointed this guy, S. M. Ramanathan, as their big shot Director of Engineering, Research and Development. Before this fancy title, Ramanathan was doing the whole Executive Director gig at BHEL’s Corporate Office, you know, the OSD – E, R&D stuff. Plus, he was running the show at the Heavy Electrical Plant (HEP) in Bhopal. This dude started his journey at BHEL way back in 1988 as an Engineer Trainee at the High Pressure Boiler Plant (HPBP) in Tiruchirappalli. Fast forward to now, and he’s been in charge of places like HPBP, Tiruchirappalli, and Boiler Auxiliaries Plant, Ranipet. In 2024, he took over as the big boss at HEP in Bhopal. Ramanathan is all about Mechanical Engineering, with degrees from IIT Madras, M. Tech in Stress and Vibration Analysis, and ICWA (Cost Accounts). Oh, and he’s a Fellow member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India. Fancy, huh?
This dude has seen it all at BHEL, from Engineering to Design to R&D to Strategic Management and beyond. Finance? No problem, he’s handled that too at places like Ranipet, Tiruchirappalli, and Bhopal. The company is all about singing his praises, saying he’s the brains behind Hydro Turbines using IT tools and math wizardry. He’s got his fingers in all the BHEL pies, from Hydro Turbines to Steam Turbines to Switchgears to Water Systems and everything in between. Basically, Ramanathan is the BHEL guru, the man with the plan for all things Engineering and Development.
So, like, Ramanathan is the man of the hour at BHEL, the guy everyone is looking up to for all things Engineering, Research, and Development. Not really sure why this matters, but hey, that’s the news for you. Like, who knew this dude started as a lowly Engineer Trainee and climbed the BHEL ladder all the way to the top? Pretty impressive, if you ask me. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like we should all take a page out of Ramanathan’s book and aim high in our careers. Who knows, we might just end up as the Director of something cool like Engineering, Research, and Development someday.
