So, like, this whole Indus Waters Treaty thing has been going on since 1960 and it’s like a big deal for India and Pakistan, right? Basically, 80% of Pakistan’s farmland, which is like 16 million hectares, needs water from the Indus system to survive. But now, India is like, “nope, we’re done sharing” after some terror attack in Pahalgam that killed a bunch of people.

Apparently, India was like, “peace out” to the treaty that they’ve had for 64 years because they found some sketchy stuff related to the terror attack. And now Pakistan is in big trouble because they rely on the Indus system for pretty much everything. From farming to cities to power, this treaty suspension is gonna hit them hard.

Like, 237 million people rely on this water system in Pakistan, and major cities like Karachi and Lahore get their water from it too. Plus, there are these hydropower plants that need the water to keep running. If India cuts them off, it’s gonna be a disaster for Pakistan.

India’s all like, “we warned you” because they’ve been threatening to ditch the treaty for a while now. But this is the first time they’ve actually gone through with it. And it’s not gonna be pretty for Pakistan, that’s for sure.

So, yeah, the whole situation is a mess and Pakistan hasn’t even responded yet. But you can bet there’s gonna be a lot of drama, legal battles, and maybe even some international intervention in the near future. It’s gonna be a wild ride, that’s for sure.
