Passenger vehicle and two-wheeler exports have seen a significant surge in growth during the months of April to February. Despite a decline in domestic wholesales, companies like Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) and Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) have both witnessed a substantial increase in exports during this period.
Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) and Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) Lead the Way
In the passenger vehicle segment, exports escalated by an impressive 13.6% year-on-year, reaching 6,92,311 units during the April-February period of 2024-25. This figure represents a notable increase compared to the 6,09,505 units exported during the same period in the previous year. Notably, MSIL has experienced a remarkable growth rate of 16.50% year-on-year, exporting 2,99,617 units between April and February of the current fiscal year. Rahul Bharti, Executive Officer of Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki India, expressed pride in the steady increase of passenger vehicle exports from India. He emphasized that more than 40% of total vehicle exports originate from Maruti Suzuki alone. Bharti attributed this success to the company’s strategic product portfolio expansion and market diversification, reaching over 100 countries. Additionally, he highlighted the recent introduction of exports for Fronx and Jimny five-door models to Japan, with promising market response.
Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto Shine in Two-Wheeler Exports
In the two-wheeler sector, total exports surged by an impressive 22.4% year-on-year, totaling 38,33,591 units between April and February. Hero MotoCorp witnessed a substantial growth rate of 46% year-on-year, exporting 2,47,911 units during the same period. This impressive figure represents a significant increase from the previous fiscal year. Bajaj Auto also experienced a notable 15% year-on-year growth in two-wheeler exports, reaching 15,41,987 units between April and February. These figures underscore the robust performance of both companies in the competitive global market for two-wheelers.
