So, like, Cognizant just opened this new techfin centre in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), right? They’re planning to have about 600 people working there, but they want to bump that number up to 2,000 in the next three years. The focus is on providing fancy technology solutions for clients in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector on a global scale.

The company is getting employees from other centres to fill up this new spot at GIFT City. They’re also hitting up schools in Gujarat for some fresh talent. Jatin Dalal, the Chief Financial Officer of Cognizant, was all talking about how they’re starting with digital engineering, cyber security, and data analytics services, but they plan to add more stuff down the line. And get this, they even had the Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel swing by for the grand opening.

Not really sure why this matters, but Cognizant leased out 60,000 square feet in GIFT SEZ for this new centre. They mentioned that they’re pulling in a good chunk of their revenues from the BFSI sector globally. The plan is to expand into smaller cities like Bhubaneswar and Indore, away from the more crowded hubs like Bengaluru and Chennai. Oh, and apparently, the attrition levels are lower in places like Ahmedabad and Kochi, so that’s a plus for Cognizant. And hey, they’re not too worried about finding talent for the new centre at GIFT City. They’ve got a bunch of people transferring from other parts of the country, and they’re planning to hire more folks locally.

To help with the growth of the centre, Cognizant is doing all sorts of recruitment stuff like on-campus and off-campus drives, walk-in events, and hiring freshers through partnerships with educational institutions in Gujarat. They’re also big on taking care of their employees, with wellness zones, gyms, yoga spaces, and medical centres at the new centre. And let’s not forget the special attention they’re giving to nursing women with dedicated mother’s rooms. The release also mentioned something about gender-separated accommodations, showing Cognizant’s commitment to inclusivity and care.

With most of Cognizant’s global associates based in India, the country is a big deal for the company. The GIFT City centre is just one piece of the puzzle, adding to Cognizant’s presence in cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and more. And that’s the scoop on Cognizant’s new techfin centre in Gujarat.
