BenQ, the big shot in projectors, holds a whopping 45% market share in the business. They’re planning to dive into the sub-₹30,000 projector market by the end of this year, aiming to make them more wallet-friendly for us homebodies. Before the whole Covid mess, they were all about serving the business peeps, but now they’re shifting their focus to us regular folks. They’ve got their eyes set on hitting a turnover of ₹1,000 crore this year, up from ₹750 crore last year, with hopes of reaching ₹2,000 crore by 2028.
Rajeev Singh, the big boss at BenQ India, spilled the beans on their plans. They’re cooking up a portable projector that won’t break the bank, starting at less than ₹30,000. Right now, their cheapest option is ₹50,000, so this new move is pretty exciting. But hold up, they’re not going below ₹10,000 because, you know, quality over everything. Singh mentioned that the 4K-home projector market sees around 10,000 units sold yearly, with portable projectors following suit. The prices may vary, with 4K projectors hitting ₹2.50 lakh and portables starting at ₹50,000-60,000. Both markets are growing fast, around 25-30% each year, so BenQ expects them to double in the next three years.
BenQ isn’t just stopping at projectors. They’re also ramping up sales of interactive flat panels for all the smart classrooms popping up everywhere. Singh bragged a bit about being the top dog in the smart education scene in India, with their solutions brightening up over 3.5 lakh classrooms. That’s a lot of classrooms, considering India has more than a crore of them. And get this, more than half of those smart classrooms are decked out with BenQ’s gear. Looks like they’re not playing around when it comes to education tech.
